Born on the Isle of Skye.

There’s not many of us left now, but I am one of the original pre-bridge Skye babies.

That has always been an important part of my life as well as being the inspiration behind the journey I’ve taken with my jewellery. A fiercely Scottish lass who somehow found herself living on the dramatic coastline of west Wales. I swapped one shoreline for another but my love of silversmithing came with me.

As a child I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), an incurable autoimmune disorder which, as the years rolled on, has had a significant impact on my life which I, obviously, try to ignore at every opportunity.

Designing & creating have always been passions of mine, starting my career as a nerdy hand-coder/web designer for Worldsnooker.com in the 2000s and ending up as a Creative Director in Swansea.

One teenager & a lot of personal growth later I started silversmithing, going on to launch Leigh Venning Jewellery in 2021. I never expected hammers, saws and blowtorches to be what makes me tick but here we are!

I use 100% traditional silversmithing techniques to  handcraft all my pieces and only work with recycled silver and recycled copper where possible. I am lucky enough to work from a home studio in my little corner of west Wales and my jewellery incorporates only ethically sourced gemstones or authentic sea glass collected by hand from the local Welsh beaches.

Born and based on rugged coastlines I will forever be inspired by nature & the ever changing shorelines with all my handmade jewellery shipped using recyclable or reusable packaging making Leigh Venning Jewellery as environmentally friendly and eco conscious as I can possibly make it.
